These
dies were developed by Ron Covell for putting a rounded edge on sheet
metal panels. He first developed them for putting a 45 degree curl
on panels for making gas tanks, but they have lots of other applications.
You will see these dies used in Rons popular video, Making
Motorcycle Gas Tanks. They are available in 4 sizes, and come with a
15/16 bore - the size used on the popular Pexto 622 beading machine.
They can be easily adapted to machines with smaller shafts by machining
spacers.
The
radius of curvature is measured on the inside of the panel, so you will
add one material thickness to calculate the outside radius. The bores have
a broached keyway that fits over the Pexto drive pin. Beautifully machined
from steel billet and heat-treated, they will give years of service.
